70 Years in the Footwear Business.

  • 1941

    At age 14, young Ron Rauert "founder" served a five-year shoe repair apprenticeship with master craftsman Mr. James Moy of Dimboola earning 15 shillings a week.


    Ron was trained in all aspects of shoe repair and was even taught the art of making shoes from scratch.

  • 1946

    At age 19 Ron summoned the courage and opened his own shoe repair business in Ballarat called "Swift Shoe Repairs" which he operated for 3 years. 

  • 1950

    In February 1950 Ron heard of greener pastures in Warrnambool and brought a shoe repair business at 102 Fairy Street.


    Ron was renowned for putting in some long hours and the milkman often woke Ron up who was asleep at the bench.


    Ron started putting in a few shoes and business was booming.

  • 1954

    It was 1954 and a larger shop just up the street, 92 Fairy Street became available.


    Ron added more and more shoes plus at the peak of repairs, employed 7 shoe repairers!

  • 1968

    Expansion of Rauert's continued, in 1968 the store was doubled in size and the Famous "Uncle Ron's Train" was added.


    Rauert's have had a simple Philosophy over the years: 

    - provide a bright and cheery environment 

    - provide a good shoe fitting expertise and knowledge. 

    - and good customer service. 

  • 1996

    Ron Rauert retired in 1996 after 50 years in the business and Ron's son Peter now runs the business.

  • 2006

    Rauert's celebrated 60 years in 2006.
